"Mom, how was your day with Alice?" (her aide who has been coming to see her about a year)
"Oh good. She is nice, but I don't know her very well. Today is the first time I met her."
"You just met her today?"
"Yes, I saw her outside so I went down to the curb to talk to her."
"But wasn't she in the house today?"
"No since I just met her I didn't want to have her in the house."
Lilybird, Lily, or Nana Lily are the affectionate names we call my mother who lived with us for 3 years. Living in the moment is a reflection of our family’s decision to focus on the humorous aspects of our journey through Alzheimer’s disease. This blog is inspired by her courage, stubbornness, and humor living with this relentless disease.
